Starting over is going pretty damn well so far.

It’s been two weeks of paradise here in Sunset Springs. Besides a few hours here or there, mostly hanging out with Maribel from the front desk, who has become my new best friend, I have been with Killian just about every moment.

That list I started on the plane is full of scratches, new to-dos, and notes about all the things we’ve done together. For our first date, he took me out on a boat where we danced under the moonlight, got a little tipsy on terrible wine coolers, and went skinny dipping for the second time.

We’ve gone wind sailing, snorkeling, and he even took me on an airboat through some of the prettiest grasslands I have ever seen. One night, he took me to a salsa club where we danced until dawn. I am having the time of my life, just as he promised. I go to bed wrapped up in his big, strong arms, and wake up with him still holding me.

“You’re beautiful in the morning,” he whispers as we lie in the warmth of sunrise.

We slept under the stars last night, camped out in a meadow a few miles from town. After hot dogs and s’mores cooked by a fire, it took us way too long to get going, we stripped down and crawled into a sleeping bag for two. It was my first time camping, and it was perfect—and crossed off another to-do.

I am crossing one important to-do off the list today.

“Morning, handsome,” I whisper back, snuggling against his warmth as I trace the tattoos spreading down his arm.

“We have anything on our to-do list today, babe?”

Lying there with him, I feel closer to him than I have anyone else in my life. He is afraid of us crossing a line we can’t come back from. I can’t wait to cross that line. Killian thinks he has me for the summer. But the truth is—he has me for as long as he wants me because I cannot bear the thought of leaving him.

Without answering, I slide over his big body, yanking down the zipper of the sleeping bag. Straddling him in the warm sunshine, I nod as I circle my hips.
